“WE LISTEN & DON’T JUDGE”

I know you all have seen the viral trend on TikTok where people sit down with others they know and tell secrets or things they don’t like and the listener says “We listen and don’t judge”, but I would just like to say God started that trend long ago before it became popular. God has been allowing us to come to Him as we are, without any judgment and He allows us to talk freely with Him without any judgment.

God invites us to come to Him as we are, with every imperfection and burden. But when we are walking with those around us, are we still operating in that grace of not judging what others do?

In the Bible, we are encouraged to approach others with humility and compassion instead of judgment, and we are to consistently self-reflect on our deeds before pointing out the deeds of someone else. Essentially this all ties into a bigger command this is to LOVE. We are to love one another as Christ loves us in all that we do.

Here’s some biblical context for you:

Matthew 7:1-2 says “Do not judge, or you will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Matthew 7:3-5 says “Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? First take the plank in your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (NIV)

As we are continuing to become more and more like Christ, that means we have to let love and grace guide our interactions.

I challenge you to go into this new week being mindful to not judge too quickly without first looking at yourself. And when you look at yourself first, it will humble you in such a way because we have all fallen short in areas of our lives and done things not pleasing, and guess what? God still loved us just the same.
